Course Description

This one day course provides an opportunity to seafarers to refresh their firefighting skills, particularly the skills that cannot be refreshed on-board i.e. to practice with live fires and thus maintain their initial skills gained during FP&FF full course.

The course is designed to provide maximum time on practical firefighting skills, hence candidates must be physically and mentally prepared to spend most of their time on fire ground.

Upon successful completion of the training all candidates receive a STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting Refresher Course certificate. According to the STCW 2010 Manila amendments, the FP&FF or its updating course must be refreshed every 5 years to update the knowledge and skills that cannot be refreshed at sea.

It is the intent of Aquatech to provide realistic and practical firefighting training to the Maritime Industry, both public and private. The Advance Firefighting Refresher course will cover the required proficiencies under the STCW 2010 standards and DG Shipping regulations.

The Refresher course provides the necessary skills check to meet the STCW code, table A-VI/3 and satisfies the DG Shipping requirement. Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to develop a realistic shipboard fire prevention program, effectively organize fire teams and respond to fires aboard their ship and have an understanding of the effects of firefighting water on their vessel.

The course is limited to those who already have the advanced firefighting certification as well as maintained 1 year of sea time within the last 5 years. Students will have to sign a Self Declaration stated that the above requirements have been met.

A course completion certificate will be issued to the student upon successful completion of all course requirements and assessments.
